The MC Café Bar at ABode Exeter is an informal and hugely popular city centre destination, all day and evenings, too. The central location on Cathedral Yard makes this an ideal place to stop for coffee or lunch for busy shoppers, while office workers enjoy popping out for a quick and delicious midday meal. In fine weather (and even in not so fine), there are shaded tables outside where diners can relax and enjoy the bustle and atmosphere of Exeter's loveliest outdoor space. As the first MC Café Bar, we have helped to define a concept that has huge appeal. Our aim is to serve quality foods from impeccably sourced produce and ingredients, prepared freshly and carefully by our skilled team of chefs. This means that if you simply pop in for a cappuccino and a piece of chocolate cake, we offer you the best cappuccino in town (no mean feat given the amount of coffee outlets springing up around the city) as well as a slice of stunningly rich and delicious homemade chocolate cake prepared for you by our talented Michael Caines pastry chefs.
Chef's Special Menu
Every week, our chefs devise a special menu available at both lunch and dinner based on seasonal and market ingredients. This is available at lunch for £8.95 for 2 courses and £12.95 for 3 courses. In the evening, we offer our Chef's Special Menu for £9.95 for 2 courses and £13.95 for 3 courses. We are currently offering a special evening promotion at £25.00 for 2 people having a 2 course menu including a bottle of wine. Here's a sample menu.
If music be the love of food ...
In the evenings, the atmosphere of the MC Café Bar changes as the lights are dimmed and the evening menu replaces the daytime menu. In Exeter, we have live music every other Friday, mellow tunes played at a comfortable sound level so as to enhance your evening.
Wine evenings
Our regular Café Bar wine evenings are all about the informal enjoyment of wines together with authentic foods that reflect not just the place where the wines come from, but also the spirit of the land and its people. Different, distinctive wines are paired with each course and a speaker discusses the special relationship between food, wine and region. This is how wine is meant to be enjoyed – in a casual and friendly, always animated atmosphere, with good food and friends. Find out more here.
