08.10 Napa Valley Wine Dinner
We are delighted to be pairing Michael Caines’s exquisite cuisine with the wines of Stags’ Leap from the famed and very beautiful Napa Valley wine region in California. Established in 1893 the property is one California’s earliest wine estates, the 240 acre estate is planted with 85 acres of vines divided into 23 separate blocks based on soil type and exposure to the sun, in a combination of valley floor and hillside sites, its unique terroir and ideal microclimate support a classical blend of viticulture, land use, and winemaking that is as relevant today as it was over a century ago. The winery is located five miles north of the town of Napa along the Silverado Trail.
Winemaker Christophe Paubert practices a meticulous, hands-on style of winemaking that emphasizes balance in his wines. The Stags’ Leap estate is about intensity, yet soft tannins, and his balanced winemaking brings these qualities to the bottle. From the hand-picked and hand-sorted fruit to the oak barrels aging in caves carved out of the solid rock of the valleys mountainside, Christophe’s methods are simple and traditional. His goal is to convey the essence of this world class terroir from the grape to the glass, in order to create handcrafted wines that tell an authentic story of the land on which they are grown.
This event will be hosted by Craig Mitchell from Ste Michelle Wine Estates who will present each wine from Stags’Leap. The evening will start at 6.30pm with canapés and a glass of Napa fizz from Roederer Quartet, taking seats at 7.00pm in the elegant Berryhead dining room for a superbly matched menu designed by Michael and prepared by our kitchen team.
