The tradition of the old British tavern and hostelry is part of our very culture and national identity. Our challenge in creating Michael Caines Taverns is to reinterpret and revalue our historic British tradition in a way that is at once faithful to its roots and origins yet also wholly relevant to contemporary tastes.
Traditional cask-conditioned ales and more
Our aim quite simply is to become your city centre local and to source and serve the finest local and regional cask-conditioned ales alongside an excellent and reasonably priced list of wines and other drinks.
Food, glorious food
We're not looking to create 'gastro-pubs' that are restaurants in all but name. Rather we serve simple, satisfying everyday British foods such as beef braised in ale, fish and chips, traditional pies, excellent local cheeses and meat platters, all locally sourced, of course. And in Canterbury we go one step further with a stunning indoor charcoal barbeque area where our chefs can quickly grill before your very eyes local lamb chops, fresh Dover sole, lobster, Kent beef and more!
