Food hygiene rating scheme launches at ABode Exeter

A new food hygiene rating scheme is launched in Exeter that will provide diners with information on food hygiene standards to help them choose where to eat out or shop. Food hygiene ratings are determined at routine inspections by Environmental Health Officers. The hygiene standards found at these inspections are rated on a scale ranging from zero at the bottom (which means 'urgent improvement necessary') to a top rating of five ('very good').
At the launch of the scheme at ABode Exeter, Michael Caines commented, "Food hygiene is critical to our business in Exeter and something which quite rightly underpins the whole industry. We're happy at ABode Exeter to receive a top rating of five and we hope other businesses will strive for this standard. Food hygiene ratings will not only give consumers an extra insight into what goes on behind the kitchen doors but also help to raise standards of those food businesses that are not stepping up to the mark."
Julien Wilkinson, General Manager of ABode Exeter added, "It was great to be able to launch the 'scores on the doors' here at ABode Exeter in conjunction with Exeter City Council - I was not suprised to see such high scores from over 1,000 restaurants and food outlets within the Exeter area, as this is a good indicator of the quality that is expeceted from our local region."
