When Andrew Brownsword came with his family to lunch at Michael Caines at The Royal Clarence, Exeter one day, a chance encounter with Michael led to the two men getting together. Out of such serendipitous meetings are great projects born, for this encounter led to a dynamic partnership in hospitality and the creation of ABode.
Andrew Brownsword is the owner of The Bath Priory;Sydney House, Chelsea; and Gidleigh Park. In joining forces with Michael to create ABode Hotels, the two men are able to combine their unique and considerable skills and vision to bring to the fore a concept of all-encompassing modern hospitality that combines understated British style and modern comfort with great food and drink at all levels.
Says Andrew, "Michael is so enthusiastic and inspirational. We share the same values in food, hospitality and life in general. Our partnership is a wonderful opportunity for us to create in ABode a group of modern lifestyle establishments that satisfy our customers' requirements in all ways, from fine food and wine, to the most modern comfort and hospitality, to a great pint of local cask-conditioned ale."
Michael comments, "Andrew is a great entrepreneur with unique vision and drive. ABode and Michael Caines Restaurants is our shared ambition and one that we hope will change the perception of the hospitality industry. Our aim is to offer fabulous rooms that are original, modern and comfortable together with great regional foods accessible to all, wherever you are."
