Ladies do Lunch at ABode Exeter
Ladies do Lunch - what's it all about? We are simply providing an opportunity for ladies to get together informally to share in a fascinating range of talks, demonstrations, and, of course, lunches! Our bi-monthly get togethers are as varied and fascinating as our members themselves, and have included fashion shows, flower arranging, Shakespeare in the Gardens, cooking demonstrations with Michael Caines, visits to Gidleigh Park, hat making, ‘a day at the races', a visit to a local vineyard and much more.
Launched in November 2002, with an irreverent and hilarious talk ‘Chaos at Christmas' by our effervescent Exeter hostess Sally Sedgman, Sally's talk set the tone for our informal ladies luncheon group, and its fair to say we've hardly looked back since! From those simple beginnings, Ladies do Lunch meets on a bi-monthly basis and continues to grow in success.
We are proud that 2012 will see us celebrate a decade of Ladies do Lunch events and enjoyable and worthwhile occasions! Needless to say, a very special celebration is in the offing.
We have a variety of ladies who regularly attend, many of them businesswomen, so Ladies do Lunch is an ideal opportunity to network or to simply meet like-minded women who enjoy fascinating company.
Our programme for 2012:
22 January 2012 - Facial acupuncture - £39.95 or £35.96 for Dining Club members
Kick start your health regime for 2012 with a fascinating presentation from Acupuncturist Helen Stafford. She will be exploring the history and the current use of Chinese medicine around the world. Find out how acupuncture could help you feel healthier and more vital. Discover whether you are eating foods which could be undermining your health, with Chinese dietary therapy. Helen will discuss how facial acupuncture is a gentle way of helping you look good, and will finish with a demonstration of facial acupuncture, as well as other traditional Chinese beauty techniques. Followed by Champagne and canapés, then a three course lunch in the Michael Caines Restaurant.
26th March 2012 - Business Networking - £39.95 or £35.96 for Dining Club members
This event will begin 12.00pm where our very own hostess Sally Sedgman will welcome with a glass of house Champagne and canapés. Followed by a superb 3-course lunch with a complimentary glass of wine, where you will be seated with other senior decision makers. It is our aim that over the course of lunch you will meet a number of ladies and begin to develop or further, successful business relationships with them. Our guest speaker, Alice Everitt, the General Manager of Exeter Racecourse, will give a short speech during coffee and petit fours, followed by the opportunity to network.
14th May 2012 - Visit to The Bath Priory - £85.00
An early 8.30am start will be required, departing from ABode Exeter, where we will be taken by coach up to The Bath Priory for 10.30am. The day will include a tour of the fabulous landscaped gardens with Head Gardener Jane Moore and a private view of the kitchens with Head Chef Sam Moody. Canapés will be served before an exquisite 3 course lunch, in which Head Chef Sam Moody will introduce each course. We will depart and aim to be back in Exeter for 5.00pm.
12 July 2012 - Flower Festival at Exeter Cathedral - £39.95 or £35.96 for Dining Club members
Enjoy a sumptuous full afternoon tea in our beautiful Cathedral Lounge, before making your way over to the stunning Exeter Cathedral for a private viewing of their Flower Festival. The evening will include a musical interlude on the organ and a glass of sparking wine and canapés.
24 September 2012 - Caroline Charles Fashion Show - £39.95 or £35.96 for Dining Club members
Caroline Charles is one of London's most respected womenswear designers. She has developed her business over the past four decades and the label is sold and marketed throughout the world. We will be working in conjunction with the store located in Princesshay to deliver a fabulous fashion show for the modern women. The day will also include arrival tea and coffee with homemade biscuits, a champagne and canapé reception and a two course lunch in the Michael Caines Restaurant.
